5 Questions With Plastic Surgeon Dr. Richard Westreich

Plastic Surgeon

On this week’s edition of #TheDoctorIsIn, we stopped by Dr. Richard Westreich’s private practice to ask him a few questions. If you’re not familiar with #TheDoctorIsIn series, it’s a weekly Instagram Story series aired on Fridays where we ask Slingshot Health doctors and healthcare professionals your user-submitted questions. Be sure to check-in at the beginning of each week to see who we’re interviewing. DM us your questions in advance and you might see your question featured in the interview!

Dr. Richard Westreich: Hi, I’m Dr. Richard Westreich. I practice in Manhattan. I’m double certified in ENT and Facial Plastic Surgery and I have been in practice for 15 years in the city.

Caroline: So the first question is, what are the most popular procedures you do in your practice?

Dr. Richard Westreich: The most popular procedure I perform surgically is rhinoplasty. But the most popular procedure overall are fillers, Botox, and minimally invasive facial tightening procedures.

Caroline: So there are a lot of plastic surgeons in NYC, what’s your unique approach?

Dr. Richard Westreich: I think the most unique thing is the eye for natural results which comes from making proportional changes so they masquerade as being natural.

Caroline: A lot of people go to dermatologists for fillers and Botox. Why should I go see a plastic surgeon instead?

Dr. Richard Westreich: While there are a lot of very qualified injectors across disciplines, I think plastic surgeons have a unique perspective in that we operate on the face. We have a structural eye towards what needs to be changed that is a little bit different and sometimes looks more natural.

Caroline: So if I’m interested in plastic surgery, what does the process look like from start to finish?

Dr. Richard Westreich: After patients inquire, we try to educate them as much as possible prior to the consult. Patients typically book their surgery that day but still have a pre-op visit with us before the day of the surgery.

Caroline: So before we leave, what’s one fun fact about yourself?

Dr. Richard Westreich: I’d say the one fun fact about me is that I’m a repressed rock star. So I sing in a band every year at the Bitter End and I also sing in the operating room.
